We're Hiring!

We are regularly seeking friendly, smart, hard-working, people loving people to join our team.

Applicants should have a flexible schedule and be available to work at least 3-5 shifts a week (including weekends), 20-35+ hrs/week. Supervisor/management experience is a big plus... we are looking for leaders!

Though we are absolutely looking for coffee/barista experience, we also very much believe in ongoing training and will definitely be reviewing/teaching to The Coffee Studio's standards of espresso preparation and coffee knowledge, so although you do have to have some coffee shop experience, you don't have to be a zen barista master... yet. You just have to love coffee and be open and willing to learn. We are always looking for applicants that show strong leadership and responsibility with the potential to become Shift Managers (Supervisors).

Maybe we would be perfect together...

The positions we are generally hiring for is not for everyone though, so together maybe we can try to save some time and effort on everyone's part:

  • If you do not have high traffic/high pressure foodservice experience, please do not apply for for a barista role.

  • If you cannot work evenings and weekends, please do not apply.

  • If you do not truly like coffee (or you only like it underneath a lot of added flavors/ syrups), you probably shouldn't apply.

  • And if you are not a genuinely cheerful, optimistic, outwardly friendly person... please skip this ad and try to find a position more likely to be a better fit for you.

We only say this because we want you to be happy where you work and we want to be happy working with you!

Seriously, our application is pretty thorough and takes some real time and thought to fill it out well... we don't want to waste your time!!!

And we get a lot of applications; it takes us a long time to read, sort and reply to all of them... we don't want to waste our time, so please read the above paragraph again and be thorough and honest. If you still think that you might like to work with us and that you would be a good fit for what we are currently looking for, then we would love to find out more about you.

We hope this is the start of a beautiful relationship!

Our kind of people

Are you kind and genuine with people, customers and co-workers alike?  Can you be focused on making people feel good even when you're having a less-than-stellar day? Are you good at connecting with people, reading faces/body language and empathizing?

Does the challenge of working efficiently and skillfully under pressure (without losing your sense of humor) interest you?  This ain't no sit-around-on-your-butt-drinking-coffee job... you really gotta be able to hustle!  There's always work to do of course, but when there's a line out that door, it's game on, for real.

Are you interested in culinary stuff, foodie stuff?  Maybe you love to cook (or watch cooking shows?) or maybe you just love to eat?  Could you wax poetic about a knock-your-socks-off cookie (or beer, or cheese...)?  Could you do it in 10,000 words?  How about three?

Would you like to learn about coffee? Where it comes from?  About how processing, roasting, blending, freshness and preparation all affect what we taste in the cup?  Really?  Do you think it would be cool to travel to an origin country (where the coffee is hand-picked off the trees)?  Are you curious about how things work, how things can be improved?  Do you like to read (or at least look stuff up on wikipedia)?  Do you like to share what you learn, to teach others?

Do you like to make stuff?  Are you inventivecreativeartistic?  Do you dig (or make) some kind of art, or design, or craft?  Do you look for beauty in your life?  Do you got style?

Can you take responsibility for your work?  Do you look for ways to be "in the zone", at one with yourself and your task, when time flies?  Do you take pride in a job well done?  What about the not-so-glamorous jobs, like scrubbing out coffee urns, and cleaning the bathroom, can you do those too?

Can you get up early in the morning (and function)?  Not all our shifts are super early ones, but a lot of them are.  Can you be on your feet for long stretches without pooping out. Are you dependable?  Can your co-workers rely on you?

And finally, do you plan on sticking around a while?  Cause it might take you a while to become a kick-ass barista. If you made it this far though, we think you might be awesome!

Note- Unfortunately over the years it has come to our attention that various coffee shops have decided to "borrow" copy from our ads and employment page content and expressed our words and feelings as their own. While that might be some sort of compliment, we just want to make sure that you know that everything on our employment page was written by us at The Coffee Studio and represents our unique perspective and values. Hopefully it will speak to you, too. Thanks!
